Republicans see opportunity in Zohran Mamdani NYC mayoral primary win

As state Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani is all but certain to be the Democratic nominee for mayor in New York City, Republicans have begun their attacks.

In November, he will face incumbent Mayor Eric Adams, who is running as an independent, Republican Curtis Sliwa, and possibly former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, whom Mamdani just beat in the primary but still could mount an independent bid in the general election. National Republicans expressed confidence that they could pull off a win in the Democratic city after Mamdani’s nomination, painting him as too far left for a general election.
