Man makes dog swear oath to Trump

The 2016 GOP primary has been described as one of the most “bizarre” and “surreal” election cycles in a very long time, and a man at a Donald Trump rally earlier this month demonstrated with his pet dog exactly why some people would think that.

At a March 5 campaign event in Orlando, Fla., Trump asked the crowd to pledge to vote for him in the state’s upcoming Republican primary. He started by asking everyone to raise their right hand, and then had the crowd recite an oath of loyalty.

“Everybody here — who likes me in this room?” Trump asked to thunderous applause. “Okay, I’ve never done this before. Can I have a pledge, a swearing? Raise your right hand. I do solemnly swear that I, no matter how I feel, no matter what the conditions, if there’s hurricanes or whatever, will vote on or before the 12th for Donald J. Trump for president!”

The crowd played along, cheering and repeating the oath with gusto. One man was so into the pledge that he decided to make the dog he brought to the rally swear to vote for Trump as well, by lifting up the dog’s paw.

Though the campaign event took place a few days ago, it wasn’t until recently that some eagle-eyed viewers noticed the dog being drafted into Trump’s ranks.
