Administration officials such as Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent will deliver keynote speeches, as will former White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt and Donald Trump Jr. Texas Attorney General and Republican Senate nominee Ken Paxton and Michigan Senate nominee Mike Rogers will also give speeches.
“Republicans are the party of hardworking, patriotic Americans who believe in a fair day’s pay, safe streets, secure borders, and a government that gets out of our way and lets Americans win again,” RNC Chairman Joe Gruters said in the announcement. “Democrats have taken a different path. They have chosen a path hijacked by the radical Left and defined by their most extreme, out-of-touch, anti-American views. Come November, the American people are going to see this choice clearly and they are going to deliver a landslide for common sense.”
Republican leaders such as Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) are expected to highlight socialists such as New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Michigan Senate candidate Abdul el Sayed to offer a contrast between “common sense” and “crazy” at the event, which will function much like a campaign rally. Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) will not be in attendance, but is expected to attend fundraisers in Dallas during the week, according to CBS News.
Speakers at the event are also expected to highlight the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, the Trump administration’s signature legislative accomplishment, and tout the GOP as the more culturally mainstream option in November.
WHAT TO KNOW AS TRUMP AND VANCE HEADLINE FIRST-EVER GOP MIDTERM CONVENTION
“This historic Republican convention programming offers a stark contrast heading into November: Republican leaders and candidates focused on lower taxes, safe communities, secure borders, and economic opportunity versus a Democratic Party driven by its most extreme, liberal members from Mamdani and El-Sayed to Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi.”
The event will also honor the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was killed one year ago on Thursday.
