Actor Dennis Quaid said he plans to vote for former President Donald Trump this November.
While appearing on Piers Morgan Uncensored, he said, “It just makes sense.”
“I was ready not to vote for him until what I saw was — more than politics — I see a weaponization of our justice system and a challenge to our Constitution as Americans that I don’t think we’re going to have,” Quaid said when asked if he was “ready for blowback.”
“Trump is the most investigated person in the history of the world,” Quaid continued. “And they haven’t been able to get him. People might call him an a**hole, but he’s my a**hole.”
Quaid also admitted that voters do not need to like Trump and what he says in order to vote for him.
“I found myself going, ‘Oh please don’t do that, please don’t say that,’ you know, these things that would come out of his mouth. But as president, the only thing I liked about Trump is everything he did,” he said. “I really feel that he is working for the American people. That is what he is all about, and I do believe that to be true and sincere.”
In response to President Joe Biden’s age being a reason not to receive support, Quaid said he doesn’t feel the president is “at the helm.”
“I don’t feel he’s there,” Quaid added about Biden. “I feel that he says things to get votes, not that he truly believes in them.”

The actor’s comments come as Trump’s hush money trial reached closing arguments ahead of jury deliberations in a case that has been highly criticized for being politically motivated amid the 2024 election cycle as Trump, the presumptive presidential nominee for the Republican Party, will likely face off again against President Joe Biden.
Quaid is set to play Ronald Reagan in a biographical film that will hit the big screen this coming August.
