Thursday marks the closing day of the 2024 Democratic National Convention, and based on the events so far, there will likely be fireworks.
Vice President Kamala Harris will headline the night, delivering her nomination acceptance speech in prime time. Harris campaign officials say her speech will seek to make three core points: sharing her personal story, contrasting her vision for the future with former President Donald Trump‘s, and wrapping herself in patriotism.
But people outside the United Center will also make headlines.
The March on the DNC group is permitted to hold another protest running north of the convention. Monday’s demonstration saw protesters breach the outer layer of DNC security fencing. A subsequent, nonpermitted protest attempted to approach the convention on Wednesday evening but was rebuffed by police. A group of uncommitted DNC delegates also staged a sit-in on the United Center grounds after the committee refused to grant a Palestinian speaker a slot on Wednesday night.

And Thursday will give convention attendees opportunities to attend state delegation breakfasts and the DNC caucuses and councils will hold their final meetings of the week at McCormick Place. The Washington Examiner’s reporters in the rooms eyeballed attendance at the latter slipping across the week as the late-night afterparties have been piling up, so headcount could dwindle for this final round.
