President-elect Donald Trump announced Sunday night that lawyer Alina Habba will serve as his presidential counselor in the White House.
In a statement posted to Truth Social, Trump praised Habba as a “tireless advocate for Justice, a fierce Defender of the Rule of Law, and an invaluable Advisor to my Campaign and Transition Team.”
“I am pleased to announce that Alina Habba will join my White House Team as Counselor to the President. Alina has been a tireless advocate for Justice, a fierce Defender of the Rule of Law, and an invaluable Advisor to my Campaign and Transition Team. She has been unwavering in her loyalty, and unmatched in her resolve – standing with me through numerous “trials,” battles, and countless days in Court,” he said.
Trump added, “Few understand the Weaponization of the ‘Injustice’ System” better than Habba, and said she has “fought relentlessly against the full force of Lawfare with courage and an unshakable commitment to Justice.”
Habba gained national recognition serving as Trump’s attorney, representing him in cases such as the federal civil lawsuit brought by Michael Cohen and the New York civil fraud case in which Trump was ordered to pay over $350 million for overstating his net worth.
She then had a role in Trump’s campaign team and took the stage at the Republican National Convention over the summer and at various Trump rallies ahead of the presidential election in early November.
Habba is also the founder of the New Jersey-based law firm Habba, Madaio & Associates.

Following Trump’s election win, she was floated as a top contender to be White House press secretary, one of the most coveted positions in an administration. Trump later picked campaign spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt for that role.
Responding to the nomination, Habba posted on X that it is the “Honor of my life to serve the 45th and 47th President and the American people.”
