Anna Paulina Luna backs Vance for president in 2028

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) on Saturday offered her support for what is quickly becoming a likely prospect: a 2028 presidential run by Vice President JD Vance.

Speaking at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest, Luna said while the United States is “blessed” to have President Donald Trump in office, it is time to look ahead to the next presidential election.

“You are all responsible for carrying the torch, that is what Charlie always said. It’s your fight too. That’s why he set up all of these conferences,” she told the crowd, before urging attendees of the conservative conference not to let it “go to waste” and saying “JD Vance 2028.”

Luna’s backing of Vance comes after Charlie Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, voiced strong support for a potential Vance presidential run during her remarks that kicked off AmericaFest.

Erika, who was appointed CEO of Turning Point after Charlie Kirk’s assassination, promised to use the organization’s weight to get Vance elected in 2028 as the next U.S. president.

“We’re going to ensure that President Trump has Congress for all four years. We are going to get my husband’s friend JD Vance elected for 48 in the most resounding way possible,” Kirk said.

While Vance has not yet announced a presidential campaign, speculation has poured in that he is the likely successor to Trump. In October, Vance revealed Trump floated the idea of the vice president running with Secretary of State Marco Rubio during a private lunch.

Trump also discussed it publicly in October, saying they would be “unstoppable.”

“We have JD, obviously, the vice president, who’s great. Marco’s great. I’m not sure if anyone would run against those two. I think if they ever formed a group, it would be unstoppable,” Trump said.

During her remarks on Saturday, Luna also warned of the prospect of another Democrat administration.

“If these guys win again we’re going to reverse right back to whatever Biden was, plus Obama, plus Soros, plus everything in between,” she said. “And it’s going to be bad news for all of us.”

Luna later outlined various issues that she said candidates must understand.

The first one she discussed was “trans-terrorism,” using Kirk’s assassination as an example.

Authorities have reported that the roommate of Kirk’s alleged shooter, Tyler Robinson, was transitioning from male to female and was in a romantic relationship with Robinson.

“Trans-terrorism is real. It murdered Charlie Kirk,” she said. “Tyler Robinson is a trans-terrorist that murdered Charlie Kirk because he was speaking the truth and it needs to be called out and condemned for exactly what it is.”

Luna also said candidates need to understand that “jihad and radical terrorist” ideology is a threat to the country, pursue “peace first” initiatives, vote down legislation that doesn’t contain a “permanent ban” on central bank digital currencies, support strong immigration, and embrace politicians from around the world who believe in the sovereignty of a nation.

“Freedom is not a government-given right, but a God-given right,” she said. “That is a big difference.”
