New York City Mayor Eric Adams said on Wednesday he is actively fielding three “dream job” offers for when he leaves office in January. Until then, he’s counting his blessings.
“I’ve reached the top of any political initiative in being the mayor,” Adams told the Reset Talk Show. “I have three offers that I’m looking at, and they are my dream jobs. Normally, you get one dream job in your lifetime. I have the opportunity to do another.”
“God is blessing me,” he said. “I’m just really excited about what’s on the horizon for me. I have just gotten started.”
Adams declined to disclose what job offers he is considering, but his statement comes after recent reports revealed advisers to President Donald Trump were considering offering the mayor a federal position. Adams previously rebuffed those reports, but after dropping his reelection bid late last month, he’s keeping his options open.
One potential position for Adams in the Trump administration could be an ambassadorship. Rumors of the job arose when Adams traveled to Albania for four days to push for a direct flight between New York City and the Balkan country. The trip came shortly after he suspended his campaign.
Adams has developed a friendly working relationship with the Trump administration, especially after the Department of Justice successfully dismissed his corruption indictment earlier this year.
In the meantime, a spokesperson for Adams said he is focused on finishing his term strongly.
Upon the incumbent’s exit, the race was whittled down to three contenders: Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani, independent candidate Andrew Cuomo, and Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa.
The latest polls show Mamdani is the frontrunner, although Cuomo has made significant strides in challenging the self-described democratic socialist. Meanwhile, pressure is building for Sliwa to follow Adams’s lead in exiting the race as he remains far behind the other two candidates.
Adams has yet to endorse any of the remaining candidates in the mayoral race.
He is expected to make an endorsement for either Cuomo or Sliwa sometime before Election Day, considering he ruled out backing Mamdani.
“This city is in excellent shape. And I’m just hoping to God that we don’t mess it up with some of the ideologies of those that don’t understand the complexities of running a city of this magnitude,” the mayor said, referencing Mamdani.

Cuomo said he would welcome an endorsement from Adams, should the announcement materialize. On the other hand, Sliwa likely would not welcome the mayor’s support due to their past rivalry in the 2021 election. Furthermore, the Republican is banking on his populist appeal with the working class.
Adams has been in conversations with both candidates. With less than three weeks until the November election, he said there’s still “a lot of time” to endorse somebody.
