Florida first lady Casey DeSantis was recognized for her inspirational leadership among Republican women while saying that for her and her husband, Gov. Ron DeSantis, “the buck stops with the parents” in the Sunshine State.
The first lady was honored with the Woman of Inspiration award at the Women of Distinction Awards Program and Gala held at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Fort Myers, Florida, on Saturday. The ceremony reportedly honors women for making strides in their communities and careers.

“We are mamas on a mission to protect our children,” DeSantis told those in attendance. “In Florida, the buck stops with the parents.”

DeSantis lauded her husband for standing by parents’ concerns, especially those over education and the influence of LGBT ideology.
“In Florida, school board members are term limited, something I wish would apply to members of Congress in Washington,” she said, adding that Florida is also protecting women’s sports. “In Florida, biological women compete with women and biological men compete with men.”

Last month, the first lady joined her husband on the campaign trail following the end of her cancer treatment, saying she looked forward to “telling Florida’s story of success and why thousands of new residents are flocking to the Sunshine State in the name of freedom.”
