Loudoun County apartment fire displaces 26 residents

An early morning apartment fire left 26 residents in Loudoun County without a home on Sunday.

Loudoun County Fire and Rescue teams responded to reports of an apartment fire at the 20500 block of Reserve Falls Terrace at about 7:40 a.m., according to spokeswoman Mary Maguire. It took crews from Sterling, Lansdowne, Ashburn, and Fairfax to help put out the blaze.

The fire, which caused about $2 million in damage, was accidently caused by the improper disposal of smoking materials, according to Maguire.

Two residents were taken to the hospital, one for possible smoke inhalation and another for a minor medical issue unrelated to the fire, Maguire said.
