Police: Remains belong to missing Va. brothers

Two sets of skeletal remains found in Lorton have been identified as Prince William County brothers who went missing nearly two years ago.

Fairfax County police said Thursday that the remains had been identified as Alberto Mireles-Garcia and Manuel de Jesus Mireles-Garcia. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner had previously ruled that both deaths were homicides, police said.

DNA testing was used to identify the remains, authorities said.

The two brothers from Triangle, both in their early 30s, were last seen on May 10, 2010, according to Prince William County officials.

The first partial set of remains was found in July 2010 just off Furnace Road. The second set was found in March 2011, also off Furnace Road but about a mile and half away.
