Two arrested in cabbie attack Two 23-year-old men are being extradited from North Carolina for allegedly attacking a cab driver in Fairfax County, police said. Ronald P. Carrigan and John D. Salathe, both of Vienna, were charged with attempted robbery and malicious wounding. Police say a cabbie picked up three people on Jan. 31 in Vienna. The passengers and driver got into an argument that grew into a fight, and officials say the men struck the driver with a stick.
Teen killed in Northwest D.C.
A 15-year-old boy was gunned down in the Brightwood neighborhood of Northwest Washington. Around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, police responded to a report of an unconscious male in the 6200 block of Seventh Street NW, near the northern tip of the city. Police found 15-year-old Joel Watkins with apparent gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead by the chief medical examiner. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 202-727-9099. Authorities offer a $25,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction.

Fatal crash victim ID’d
Montgomery County police identified the passenger killed Saturday in a single-vehicle crash as Jose Guillermo Tista Lemus, 26, of Silver Spring. Police said a white 1994 Volkswagen Jetta, driven by Jose Martinez Lopez, 25, left the roadway in the 1500 block of Dilston Road in Silver Spring and struck a tree. Lemus was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected. He died at the scene while the driver survived. The investigation is continuing.
Six arrested in Loudoun prostitution sting
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office arrested six men on solicitation of prostitution charges in a sting set up at an area hotel. The men had responded to Internet advertisements posted by deputies who claimed to be prostitutes, authorities said. The men allegedly negotiated for a price for sex at the hotel and were then arrested.
