Teen likely killed by gang in Fairfax

Fairfax County police say a 16-year-old boy found dead in a Mount Vernon-area park was likely killed in a gang-related incident.

Christian Perez was found in Woodlawn Park on Friday afternoon. Police said the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head. Anyone with information is asked to call Fairfax County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).

Boy reunited with puppy

A 13-year-old boy in Montgomery Village whose 8-week-old pit bull puppy was stolen from him by two bigger boys Saturday afternoon was reunited with the pup Sunday morning, Montgomery County police said.

A Montgomery Village resident found the puppy on his porch Sunday morning and called police to let them know he had Yeti. The puppy was unharmed after his time away from his family, which started Saturday afternoon when two boys grabbed the puppy from the young teen, police said.

Girl, 8, dies in Pr. George’s house fire

An 8-year-old girl died when flames erupted in her bedroom late Saturday night in Clinton, a Prince George’s County fire department spokesman said.

The girl’s mother tried to rescue the girl but couldn’t get through the flames, the spokesman said. By the time firefighters arrived at the house on the 6100 block of Parkview Lane, the girl was already dead. Authorities believe the fire was accidental.

Man, 30, shot in Aspen Hill

A 30-year-old District man was seriously injured early Sunday morning when he was shot on the 3800 block of Bel Pre Road, Montgomery County police said.

The victim, whose name was not released, was hospitalized in serious but stable condition, authorities said. Police described the shooter as a Hispanic man with a medium build.
