Man, woman arrested in Gaithersburg armed robbery

Two young adults were arrested in connection with an armed robbery in Gaithersburg, officials said.

Ronda Fitzpatrick, 21, of Chevy Chase, was charged with one count of armed robbery and one count of conspiracy to commit armed robbery. Danylo Demidenko, 22, of Derwood, was charged with one count of conspiracy to commit armed robbery, according to the Montgomery County police department.

Shortly after 3 a.m. on Sunday, officers responded to a robbery report at Goshen Road and Girard Street. The victim told police that a white female with a small black handgun took her purse and then fled on foot, police said.

A little while after officers broadcasted a lookout for the suspect, another officer saw a woman  who matched the description getting into a taxi a short distance away from the robbery. Police arrested Fitzpatrick and Demidenko, and detectives later learned that Fitzpatrick committed the robbery while Demidenko watched from a close distance, officials said.

Fitzpatrick is being held on $100,000 bond and Demidenko is being held on $50,000 bond.
