Two ranking officers in the D.C. police unit that provided actor Charlie Sheen a high-speed escort have been transferred to the patrol services and school security bureau, internal documents obtained by The Washington Examiner show. Capt. Robert Atcheson and Lt. Stuart Emerman were transferred from the special operations division on June 3, the document says.
Emerman oversaw the planning of escorts in the unit, and Atcheson was his captain. The unit gave Sheen an escort from Washington Dulles International Airport to DAR Constitution Hall and the actor posted a photograph online showing a speedometer reading 80 mph.
A police spokeswoman said the two officers were among 20 people transferred throughout the police force, but she did not know why they were moved.
Kris Baumann, chairman of the D.C. police union, called the transfers “arbitrary discipline.”
