» Oscar Rubio, 21, was one of two men shot early Memorial Day in the 900 block of Decatur Street Northwest.
Before the weekend, the District had seen 37 homicides, a 27 percent drop from this time last year.
Three dead from carbon monoxide poisoning
Carbon monoxide is being blamed for the deaths of three men living in a ramshackle house in Hyattsville.
Elon Jones, 21, Edward Gonzales, 20, and Henry Gonzales, 17, were found in the upper floor of a home in the 5600 block of 38th Avenue on Sunday. The home had been foreclosed upon and its power shut down because the men hadn’t been paying the bills, the Washington Post reported.
The three apparently moved a gasoline-powered generator into the home’s basement but left the windows and doors shut. When authorities tested the atmosphere in the home, the carbon monoxide levels were nearly nine times the amount considered normal, WJLA reported. – Compiled by Bill Myers
