U.S. Army soldier Karlyn Serane Ramirez, 24, was discovered dead from gunshot wounds early Tuesday morning, and was found in her Maryland home next to her infant daughter who unharmed.
Ramirez was a U.S. Army specialist stationed at Fort Meade, a major installation near the state capital of Annapolis.
She lived in a neighborhood near the fort, in a county heavily populated with military associated residents. Several of her neighbors reported the sound of gunshots to police.
“I’ve been in the Army 25 years. So I know what shots sound like. I said, ‘Somebody is firing somewhere,'” neighbor Alvin Zeno said, according to CBS News.
No suspects have been named, reports CBS Baltimore. Ramirez was married, and the police are in the process of interviewing him and other family members.
