One dead after Beltway collision in Montgomery County

One person died after a collision on the Beltway in Montgomery County, and police said they believe alcohol was a factor in the incident.

About 10:25 p.m. Wednesday, Maryland State Police troopers responded to the inner loop of the Beltway prior to Colesville Road. According to an investigation, a passenger vehicle that was parked on the right shoulder was struck by another passenger vehicle.

Three people were standing outside the parked vehicle, police said, and another person had just entered the vehicle. All four were taken to hospitals, where one of them died.

The investigation is continuing.
