Two charged in Va. woman’s murder

Two men have been accused of stabbing a 22-year-old woman to death and leaving her body in the passenger seat of her car in Reston, Fairfax County police said. Michael Thomas was taken into custody Monday at his Bladensburg home. Marcus Williams was caught Tuesday in Michigan. Police say they killed Erika Yancey, of Herndon, in November 2008.

Police: Md. woman punched teen in face

A 40-year-old woman has been accused of punching a 16-year-old boy in the face because she believed he was part of a fight involving her daughter, the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office said. Alice Frishkorn has been charged with second-degree assault from the Sept. 1 incident at Linganore High School, authorities said. Frishkorn went to the school after learning of a fight involving her daughter. She allegedly punched the teen in the face while the two were waiting for school officials in an office. The fight, the teen reportedly told police, was between his girlfriend and Frishkorn’s daughter. He claimed to be trying to pull the two apart.

Pedestrian killed in Arlington

A pedestrian was killed while attempting to cross Arlington Boulevard near the George Washington Parkway exit ramp Tuesday night, police said. Police have not yet released the victim’s name. The busy road was closed for several hours following the 7:40 p.m. incident. The driver remained at the scene.

Garbage truck kills woman, 85 An 85-year-old Arlington woman was killed when she was struck by a garbage truck backing out of a loading dock. The incident happened Monday afternoon in the parking lot in the 600 block of S. Carlin Springs Road. The truck was leaving a loading dock when it struck Ton Chau. The driver stayed on the scene while Chau was taken to a hospital, where she died.
