A Springfield man was abducted at gunpoint overnight and forced to withdraw cash at banks before he was abandoned in the trunk of his car.
Fairfax County police said three men approached the 22-year-old man as he was leaving his home on the 6100 block of Cumberland Avenue at about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday. One of the men brandished a handgun and the suspects forced the victim into his own car.
The three suspects all got into the vehicle. They drove the man to two banks and forced him to withdraw cash, police said. Then, the victim was forced into the trunk of his car. The suspects drove for a short time, then got out of the car.
One of the men opened the trunk, cut the victim with a knife and told the man to stay in the trunk until the suspects got away, authorities said. When the suspect got out of the trunk, he was near Piedmont Place and Braddock Road, nearly three miles from his home. Police said the cut was minor.
All of the suspects are described as black men between 18 and 25 years old. They were wearing hooded jackets. Two men were wearing masks and one covered his face with a cloth.
