State police Sunday said they are searching for a motorcyclist who fled the scene of a fatal crash on Interstate 95 in Howard County.
A group of six to eight motorcyclists were speeding “recklessly” south on the interstate about 7:30 p.m. Saturday north of Route 100 when one swerved into the center guardrail, launching the motorcyclist into traffic. The man was struck by two vehicles and killed.
The dead man was wearing a helmet, and police are working to notify his family.
After the man fell from the motorcycle, however, the empty bike struck one of the other motorcyclists in the group. The collision caused that motorcyclist to be thrown off, police said, but he fled the scene on the back of another motorcycle, according to police.
The crash closed the interstate for about three hours.
