The Fairfax County Police Department is investigating the stabbing of a 15-month-old pit bull.
Animal Control officers were called to pick up the dog, named Cane, in the 3500 block of Rolling Hills Avenue in the Hybla Valley area Friday. A veterinarian determined that injuries to the dog’s neck were consistent with a stab wound, police said Tuesday.
The owner could not pay the cost of treatment and turned Cane over to the animal shelter. The Fairfax County Animal Shelter and Friends of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter will defray the costs of Cane’s treatment.
