A Howard County man was arrested in connection with an alleged kidnapping and attempted murder in Montgomery County, police said.
Twenty-four-year-old Quinnton Brown, of Columbia, is charged with attempted first-degree murder, kidnapping, robbery, use of a handgun in the commission of a crime of violence, use of a firearm during the commission of a felony, reckless endangerment and first-degree assault, Montgomery County police said. He was arrested on Jan. 27 in York, Pa., is being held on $1 million bond and will have an extradition hearing on Feb. 15.
At about 8 a.m. on Jan. 22, Montgomery County police officers responded to a robbery report at a remote location in the woods on Game Preserve Road in Gaithersburg, police said.
Officers at the scene spoke to a 31-year-old man who said he had been forced at gunpoint from his home in Germantown. The suspects ordered him into a vehicle, drove him to an ATM and forced him to withdraw money. Then they drove him to the site at Game Preserve Road and forced the victim at gunpoint to walk in the woods, police said.
The victim fought with the suspects, one of whom shot at him. The victim then faked an injury and the suspects left the scene, police said. The victim only got a few scratches.
