Man nabbed for bank robberies in P.G., Annapolis

The Landover man arrested last week in connection with a series of bank robberies in Prince George’s County is linked to another robbery in Annapolis.

Damon K. Roberts, 47, was arrested Thursday at his home on the 700 block of Carlough Street. He is a special-education social worker for D.C. Public Schools and has been placed on indefinite administrative leave, according to a DCPS spokeswoman.

Prince George’s County police say Roberts robbed six banks in the county between March 12 and July 8. Most occurred in the Largo and Bowie areas.

He has been charged with six counts of robbery related to those incidents. Roberts also faces assault charges.

Roberts also has been charged in connection with the Aug. 12 robbery of a Chevy Chase Bank in Annapolis, Anne Arundel County police said.

In each robbery, Roberts allegedly entered the bank and posed as a customer. He handed the teller a note demanding money and fled after obtaining the cash.

No one was injured in any of the incidents. He obtained an undisclosed amount of money.

Roberts is in custody at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center on $25,000 bond.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 16 in Prince George’s County.

No lawyer was listed for Roberts in online court records on Monday.
