Planters Grove, a peanut-shaped park in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood in Northeast Washington, will open to the public Tuesday. The grove, at 50th Street and Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue, is the second of four urban parks to go up in the United States this year as part of the Planters snack company’s efforts to beautify city neighborhoods. The revitalization builds upon recent efforts to redevelop the Marvin Gaye Park corridor into a hub of healthy recreation, outdoor activity, civic participation and public-private partnership.
A short ceremony begins at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, with a community planting to follow.
