Teen escapes authorities twice in eight days

District of Columbia police are searching for a potentially dangerous 17-year-old who has escaped authorities’ clutches twice this month.

On August 1, Gerald Long was at the Baltimore Washington International Airport where he was being transported by the District’s Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services when he “managed to escape their custody,” District police said in a release.

He was caught on August 9 by Seat Pleasant police and turned over to a group home for delinquents in Prince George’s County, only to walk off the premises hours later, police said.

Police received a court order Wednesday allowing them to release details regarding a juvenile.

Authorities say Long, who is 5’8” and about 180 pounds with gray eyes should be considered armed and dangerous, police said. Anyone with information should call 202-727-9099.
