A Rockville man was arrested after he allegedly tried to hire someone to kill his wife and one of her friends.
Montgomery County police said 48-year-old Daniel Alfaro Mendoza met with an undercover police officer this week and offered to pay $200 and sign over the title of his vehicle if the officer would kill his wife and an acquaintance.
Police began investigating Mendoza in February, when D.C. police officers provided information that he was trying to hire someone to kill his wife, Ermosinda Saravia, and a friend, Arturo Gamboa Yangali.
In October, Saravia was granted a protective order against Mendoza because he had threatened to kill her, according to police and court records.
Mendoza was taken into custody Tuesday after he met with the undercover officer to identify his wife.
