Police question Fairfax man in hit-and-run death

A 32-year-old Fairfax man was charged Friday in a hit and run accident that killed a 10-year-old girl from Ohio on Thursday.

Michael Dean Eaton was charged with failure to remain at a scene involving death after turning himself in to the Rockville Barracks shortly before 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Eaton was the driver of a Land Rover that was traveling at a high rate of speed when it slammed into the back of a Jeep Cherokee on Interstate 270 in Rockville shortly before midnight, according to Maryland State Police.

The Land Rover continued down I-270 southbound for a mile before Eaton jumped out and fled the scene on foot, police said.

The girl who was killed in the crash was identified as Jasmine Warr, of Twinsburg, Ohio. Three other people in the vehicle were injured, including the driver, William Warr, 53, Angela Warr, 45, and Cortavia Harris, 11.
