2 dead, 1 hurt in Columbia Heights shooting
Two men were killed and another left in critical condition after a shooting in Northwest D.C. early Saturday. D.C. police said the shooting happened on the 1400 block of Parkwood Place NW at about 6 a.m. Two adult men were shot in the head, Ward 1 Councilman Jim Graham wrote in a message on the Columbia Heights neighborhood listserv. The two were pronounced dead at the scene, said Officer Anthony Clay, a District police spokesman.It is not clear what happened to the third man, who remains in critical condition. The victims’ names and ages were not released. Clay said no arrests have been made in the case.
Child care worker accused of assaulting students
A Leesburg child care worker is accused of sexually assaulting two students at the preschool where he worked. Leesburg police said 23-year-old Brad Minor is charged with forcible sodomy and indecent liberties with a child by a custodian in connection with an alleged sexual assault of a 4-year-old student at Chesterbrook Academy. He is also charged with aggravated sexual battery in a separate assault on another 4-year-old, police said. Police didn’t describe the circumstances of either incident. Minor has been fired, Chesterbrook Academy said in a statement to the Loudoun Times.

Police probe synthetic pot
Police are investigating a Falls Church tobacco shop after seizing 1,700 packets of synthetic marijuana from the business. Falls Church police said investigators found the synthetic pot — which is also known as K2 or “spice” — at the Arabica Tobacco Shop after authorities received complaints about sales of illegal merchandise. Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell signed a bill in March that made it illegal to possess, sell or distribute synthetic marijuana.
