Police: MS-13 member murdered pimp who refused extortion

Alexandria police have accused an alleged MS-13 gang member of gunning down a pimp for refusing to be extorted by the gang, court documents said.

Claros Luna was found shot to death in the driver’s seat of a silver 2002 Honda Accord on the evening of July 29, police said. According to court documents filed in Alexandria’s federal court, he was lured to the 700 block of Manor Road in Alexandria by MS-13 gang members who planned to demand he pay “rent” for running prostitutes on their turf.

Authorities say Eris Ramon Arguera placed a call to Luna earlier in the day and the two arranged for Luna to bring a prostitute from his home in Prince George’s County to Alexandria.

When they arrived at 704 Manor Road, the prostitute exited Luna’s car and walked into the apartment building, court documents said. As soon as she entered the foyer, the unnamed prostitute was allegedly accosted by Arguera, who pulled out a handgun and demanded her cell phone. Police say Arguera then called two confederates, telling them “he had the girl and [Luna] was parked out in the car.”

The prostitute was marched back to the car by Arguera where they met two other gang members, an Alexandria detective said in a sworn statement. Among the men were two handguns and a knife. They demanded “rent,” a term used commonly for extortion payments. Luna resisted, they struggled and Luna was shot several times.

Investigators were led to Arguera by tracing the call luring Luna to Manor Road back to Arguera’s cell phone, court documents said. Cell phone records placed Arguera in the vicinity of the homicide. When police questioned Arguera, he claimed to have lost his cell phone earlier in the evening on his way to the Manor Road area. He reportedly admitted to being an MS-13 member and has gang tattoos on his chest, back and legs, the detective wrote.

One witness who knows Arguera reportedly told police he had been asked to back up Arguera’s claim to police that he had lost his cell phone, documents said. He and another witness told police Arguera had planned to extort the pimp. Both confirmed Arguera’s membership in MS-13.

Court records did not have contact information for Arguera’s attorney.
