Prince George’s County Police are the hunt for a 29-year-old man in Thursday night’s fatal shooting in Temple Hills. James Allen Payne is wanted on first-degree murder charges in the shooting death of 31-year-old Gregory L. Lawton. Both men were from Temple Hills.
Lawton was found dead in a stairwell of his apartment on the 4400 block of 23rd Parkway around 9:30 p.m. It was the second slaying of the day for the county.
Police obtained a warrant for Payne’s arrest Friday and are seeking any information about his whereabouts. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 301-772-4710.
