Authorities have few leads in the case of a Springfield teenager who has been missing for nearly two years. Sandra Manzanares ran away in January 2010 and has not been located, said Melinda Stevens, director of the missing children’s division for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Manzanares was last seen her school, Robert E. Lee High, Stevens said. The girl was 16 years old at the time.
The teenager left a note that said she loved her parents, but wanted to be with her boyfriend, Stevens said.
She said Manzanares had never run away before.
The two may have been headed to the Atlanta area, but there have been no reported sightings of Manzanares since her Jan. 20, 2010, disappearance.
Manzanares would be 18 now. At the time she went missing, Manzanares was 5-foot-5 and weighed about 110 pounds, according to NCMEC. She had black hair and black eyes.
Manzanares did not have any distinctive tattoos or piercings, according to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System. Stevens said the girl may have had a few acne scars on her face.
Anyone with information about the disappearance is asked to call NCMEC at 800-THE-LOST (843-5678).
