A female pedestrian was killed after being hit by a sport-utility vehicle in Anne Arundel County, police said.
Cheryl Ann Howes, 55, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Anne Arundel County Police Department.
Shortly before 9 p.m. Monday, police responded to the accident on Muddy Creek Road in Churchton. According to a preliminary investigation, a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe was travelling southbound when it hit Howes, who had run into the road, police said.
Around the same time of the accident, officials received a report of a camper trailer fire in the area. Howes was seen running into the street from the area where she was staying in a camper trailer, police said.
Detectives are working with fire department officials to see if the two incidents were connected and if there was foul play,
