Baltimore County prosecutors on Monday won six convictions against one of the most prolific rapists in state history.
Already serving a sentence of 15 years for rape, Alphonso Hill, 56, pleaded guilty to six more first-degree rapes that occurred between 1978 and 1989 in Towson.
Under a plea agreement, Hill will be sentenced to 60 years in prison next month.
“For anyone who’s been raped, it’s such a cloud that hangs over you the rest of your life, especially if it’s unsolved,” Laura Neuman, one of Hill’s victims, said in an earlier interview with The Examiner.
Prosecutors described Hill’s rapes as “brutal attacks” during which three victims were attacked at their homes and three in public areas.
Baltimore County State’s Attorney Scott Shellenberger praised Dr. Rudiger Breitnecker, founder of the rape care center at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center, who stored the DNA evidence in the cases that led to Hill’s charges.
“The foresight of Dr. Breitnecker has ensured that another violent offender has been brought to justice,” Shellenberger said in a statement. “Dr. Breitnecker’s commitment to the victims of sexual assault is legendary. His vision and intellect continue to bear fruit in the quest to get violent predators off the street.”
Hill’s 60-year sentence will begin after his 15-year sentence ends.

Alphonso Hill pleaded guilty Monday to the following crimes:
» July 18, 1978, at 12:25 a.m. he entered a residence on the 6900 block of Donachie Road and raped a 27-year-old woman at knifepoint.
» Nov. 11, 1978, at 2:45 a.m. he kidnapped and raped a 22-year-old woman at gunpoint on the 6600 block of Collinsdale Road.
» Jan. 7, 1979, at 11:30 p.m. he entered a residence on the 6600 block of Collinsdale Road and raped a 25-year-old woman while implying he had a gun.
» Sept. 7, 1979, at 12:45 a.m. he kidnapped a 24-year-old woman at gunpoint and raped her in a wooded area near Interstate 695 on Dulaney Valley Road.
» June 29, 1983, at 3:36 a.m. he entered a residence on the unit block of Dowling Circle and raped a 32-year-old woman while holding a gun to her head.
» March 14, 1989, at 3:30 a.m. he entered a residence on the unit block of Acorn Circle and raped a 33-year-old woman at knifepoint.
