Takoma Park teens charged with burglary

A Takoma Park police detective arrested two teenagers on burglary charges after noticing them snooping around yards.

The detective spotted the boys, ages 17 and 15, around 11 a.m. Tuesday around the 7200 block of Spruce Avenue. The boys said they were asking for donations for a band. The detective arrested them for truancy, and found in their possession a Toshiba laptop and digital camera, two iPods and a pair of earrings. The items had been reported stolen from a nearby residence.

Police said the boys may be responsible for some of the burglaries that have plagued the city.
