The Lansdowne woman who survived an attack that killed her husband is conscious and talking to authorities, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday.
Cynthia Bennett, 55, a retired U.S. Army captain, told investigators at least four men were involved in the early morning assault last month. She was found along Riverside Parkway. Her husband, William Bennett, 57, a retired U.S. Army Green Beret and former contractor with the CIA, was found dead nearby.

Sheriff’s deputies found the Bennetts on a path on Riverside Parkway around 5:30 a.m. March 22 after a caller reported suspicious noises and men getting into a white van.
Anyone with information is asked to call Loudoun Crime Solvers at 703-777-1919. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest in the homicide.
