Chiropractor convicted in insurance-fraud scam

A chiropractor has pleaded guilty for his role in an insurance-fraud scheme he ran with a personal-injury lawyer.

Federal prosecutors alleged that Falls Church resident Jason Carle — who operates clinics in Silver Spring and Oxon Hill — and personal-injury lawyer Ryan A. Lahuti would refer clients to each other. After Lahuti was in an accident in May 2009, he asked Carle to fabricate patient files so he could submit fraudulent insurance claims, according to court records.

Lahuti also used false documents Carle created to submit false claims to auto insurance companies for others, court records say. His trial is scheduled for June.
