LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) — Los Angeles County Sheriff’s officials say a deputy has been shot and a suspect is dead following a confrontation in Long Beach.
The Long Beach Press Telegram reports (http://bit.ly/1kaPz33) the deputy was shot in the stomach Monday morning near the Long Beach-Compton border. He was stable and conscious before undergoing surgery, and was expected to survive.
