The 3-foot-11-inch man wanted since May in a Montgomery County homicide has been apprehended in El Salvador, according to the U.S. Marshals Service and Montgomery County police.
Alfredo Perez, a deputy U.S. marshal in Houston, said 29-year-old Henry Chavez was flown to Houston from El Salvador on Wednesday night.
Chavez is awaiting extradition to Montgomery County, where he will be charged with first-degree murder in the May 27 slaying of Hamington Luis Ravanales Orozco. Police say Chavez assaulted Orozco outside a home on the 10100 block of Georgia Avenue.
Perez said he didn’t know how Chavez was found in El Salvador. Chavez said he was “glad to be back” when he arrived in Texas, Perez said.
