3 arrested in Silver Spring pack robberies

Three Montgomery County teens have been arrested on charges that they robbed and attacked two people in separate incidents earlier this month.

Police said the first attack was the night of May 5, when five people were caught on surveillance video beating a man in an apartment building stairwell on the 1300 block of Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring. They broke the man’s ribs and took his cash, police said.

On May 15, they attacked another victim at the intersection of Georgia and Connecticut avenues in Silver Spring, police said. That victim was not seriously injured and escaped by approaching a passing motorist.

Authorities are looking for at least one other teen believed to have been involved in the attacks.

Arlington sex assault culprit attacks again

Arlington County police believe a man who sexually assaulted a woman in her apartment complex’s pool house earlier this month attacked another woman.

The most recent victim was behind a restaurant on the 2000 block of Wilson Boulevard around 10:50 p.m. Friday when a man grabbed her behind and fondled her, police said. The woman fought back and the man fled.

The first attack on the 1800 block of North Scott Street was on May 8.

The assailant was described as a Hispanic man, who is about 5 feet 7 inches tall.

Fisherman’s body found on Potomac River shore

The body of 37-year-old Daniel Figueroa was found on the Maryland shore of the Potomac River near Sandy Hook, authorities said.

Figueroa, a fisherman from Gaithersburg, is believed to have drowned on Saturday.
