A District man pleaded guilty to charges stemming from his role in a D.C.-area drug trafficking ring, court documents show.
In D.C. federal court Wednesday, Espey Brown Jr., 37, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute 28 grams or more of cocaine base and one count of using, carrying and possessing a firearm during a drug trafficking offense, court documents show. His sentencing is scheduled for May 22.
According to court documents, Brown was part of a conspiracy to distribute and possess powder cocaine and crack between June 2008 and August 2011. Brown was supplied cocaine, used his residence and other locations to stash and hide narcotics and provided crack to others so they could sell it to people living in and around an apartment building near 7th and O streets NW.
Brown was one of 17 people arrested last year following indictments in August 2011 on conspiracy and other charges. In addition to being active in the 7th and O streets area, the ring was also active in Prince George’s County, authorities said.
Brown could face up to life in prison, according to the plea agreement.
