On Feb. 14, Johnson and two others drove next to the victim who was seated in a parked vehicle, according to law enforcement officials. Johnson pulled out a handgun and demanded the victim’s money and property, police said. The victim speed off and Johnson fired three rounds into the vehicle.
The car with Johnson and the other men then drove in and out of D.C. and Prince George’s County. Police from both jurisdictions, answering calls about the fired shots, pursued. The men ultimately stopped on Yuma Street in Southeast Washington, and all three attempted to flee on foot.
Two of the three were captured but Johnson made good on his escape, police said.
Matt Burke, supervisory inspector of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, is asking the public for information that can lead to Johnson’s arrest before anyone gets hurt.
“Johnson is clearly a regional threat to the public, straddling the line between Maryland and Washington, D.C.,” Burke said. “Unfortunately for him, law enforcement in this region is working together well to capture the bad guys that are trying to use [the] border as safety net to avoid investigators. Prince George’s and D.C. police got two of the three involved, we’d like the Washington Examiners readers help in picking up Johnson.”
Johnson is 5-foot-8 and 160 pounds with a tattoo on his neck.
He is known to frequent Capital Heights, Temple Hills and Southeast Washington. Anyone with information should contact the task force at 301-489-1717.
Since 2008, federal authorities have credited readers of The Washington Examiner for the capture of 41 fugitives. At least nine captured fugitives were wanted on a homicide charge and/or were convicted killers.
