Man pleads guilty to
burning his home, business
A Howard County man pleaded guilty to intentionally burning down his home and business over an estate battle with his deceased wife’s family. Scott Wilson, 55, pleaded guilty to arson in connection with the fire that damaged his wife’s and his business, Subtractions, a computer and electronics recycling business that did business in the District, Maryland and Virginia. When firefighters showed up, Wilson tried to drive his Jeep onto the property, narrowing missing a firefighter, prosecutors said. He later poured screws and glass on the driveway of a potential witness and threatened to kill the grandchildren of two other potential witnesses, prosecutors said. Wilson faces five to 10 years in prison.
Takoma Park man convicted
of raping, beating girlfriend
A Montgomery County jury found a Takoma Park man guilty of raping his girlfriend. In March 2009, police said, Harvey Scott, 45, repeatedly sexually assaulted the woman in their apartment before she was able to escape and make it to a hospital. She was taken by helicopter to the Shock Trauma Medical Center in Baltimore in critical condition. The woman recovered. Scott was found guilty of second-degree rape and second-degree sexual assault.

Police shoot man in standoff
Fairfax County police shot a man during a standoff in the Reston area early Friday. Police said the man inside a residence in the 2500 block of Fallon Drive threatened his family before they were able to leave the home. Police tried to contact the man for several hours but got no answer. When the tactical unit entered the home, the man was brandishing a handgun, police said. Police shot the man in the upper body and he was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Man missing since January
D.C. police are asking the public to help find a man who has been missing since the end of last month. Fifty-seven-year-old Robert Blake, of the 900 block of First Street NW, was last seen Jan. 31. Police do not have a photo of him. He is described as a medium complected black male, about 5 feet 7 and 170 pounds, with short black hair and a full beard. He may appear to be disoriented and needs medication. Anyone with information about Blake is asked to call police at 202-727-9099.
