Readers of the Washington Examiner helped authorities capture a convicted murderer who was wanted on charges that he allegedly raped and beat a woman in her home in Southeast Washington.

Keith Daniels, 35, turned himself over to D.C. police after U.S. marshals began to close on him thanks to numerous calls from readers, said Rob Fernandez, chief inspector of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force. Daniels’ mug shot and story appeared in the Crime & Punishment page of the newspaper on Thursday.
