Two people were killed in Columbia this week — doubling Howard County’s homicide total for the year — and police say suspects are in custody in both slayings. Howard County police said 21-year-old Dominique McDonald was apprehended Wednesday in connection with Monday’s fatal shooting of 42-year-old Nichole McNair. McNair, a bail bondswoman, was collecting a payment from McDonald when he shot her, police said.
The second killing happened Tuesday, when 46-year-old Phillip E. Wise was stabbed to death in an apartment complex parking lot. Witnesses said Wise and 53-year-old Anthony P. Parker fought in the lot. Parker turned himself in Wednesday evening, police said.
