A 16-year-old Sterling boy faces charges after he allegedly tried to sexually assault two girls who were walking to school, authorities said.
The suspect was charged with two counts of abuduction with intent to defile and two counts of aggravated sexual battery, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.

About 7:30 a.m. Monday, a 12-year-old girl and a 14-year-old girl were walking to school on a path in the area of Seneca Ridge Drive and Augusta Drive. The suspect grabbed them and tried to sexually assault them, officials said, but the girls were able to free themselves.
A teenage boy who witnessed the incident chased the suspect from the area and then escorted the two girls to Seneca Ridge Middle School, officials said.
The suspect is being held out the Loudoun County Juvenile Detention Center.
