Pedestrian dies from injuries in Manassas crash

A man has died from injuries he suffered when he was hit by a car while walking in Manassas earlier this month.

Prince William County police on Wednesday identified the man as 60-year-old Richard E. Hunter and said he died on Saturday.

Police said the crash happened at about 6:50 p.m. on March 9, when Hunter walked across the street on the 8000 block of Centreville Road outside of a crosswalk. He was struck by a 2002 Hyundai Elantra and was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injurires.

Police said Hunter was intoxicated at the time.

The Elantra driver, a 72-year-old man from McLean, was not at fault in the crash and will not be charged, police said. The driver was not injured.
