Former Va. youth soccer coach accused of rape

A 47-year-old former youth league soccer coach has been accused of raping at least one boy a decade ago, Arlington County police said.

Luis Hoil has been charged with forcible sodomy. He coached the Crystal City Soccer Club from 1998 to 2003. The club served students in the Oakridge Elementary and Gunstance Middle School attendance areas, police said.

Hoil, police said, has lived in the Arlington area for the past 20 years. Investigators are concerned there may be other victims. Anyone with information should call Arlington County police at 703-228-4242.



Police crack down on HOV violators

Police across the Washington region are cracking down on high occupancy vehicle lane cheaters.

In honor of Capitol Region HOV Awareness Day celebrated Wednesday, police in Virginia and Maryland are out in numbers to pull over drivers who are violating the occupancy restraints of the travel lanes.

Violators in Maryland face a $90 fine and one point on their driving records. In Virginia, repeat offenders face fines up to $1,000 and three points on their records.

Pedestrian killed in P.G. had been drinking, police say

A 55-year-old Upper Marlboro man who was struck and killed in Kettering is believed to have been drinking before the accident, Prince George’s County police said.

Lloyd Williams was killed Tuesday night when he walked onto Watkins Park Drive near the intersection with Chesterton Drive and was hit by a car. Police said they recovered evidence from near the scene that shows he had been drinking.
