Man fatally shot in home
Prince George’s County police are investigating the killing of a 33-year-old North Brentwood man.
Police said Ronald C. Heskee was found dead in his home on the 4500 block of Banner Street shortly before 11 p.m. He died from a gunshot wound to the upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police were responding to a 911 call for an unknown disturbance at the residence. No one else was inside the home when officers arrived, said Cpl. Henry Tippett, a Prince George’s County police spokesman.
No motive or suspects have been identified in the slaying, said Tippett, who noted robbery is a possibility.
Teen killed in hit-and-run
An 18-year-old from Takoma Park was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Hyattsville early Saturday.
Prince George’s County police said Wilber Ramirez, was found unconscious in the 5000 block of 38th Avenue at about 2:20 a.m.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police believe Ramirez was struck by a southbound vehicle as he was trying to cross 38th Avenue. The vehicle continued driving without stopping.
Police said investigators have no information on the vehicle involved in the accident. Anyone who may have seen the crash is asked to call 301-731-4422.
Warrant issued in slaying
A 24-year-old Laurel man is wanted on first-degree murder charges in a shooting death that took place last weekend.
Prince George’s County police said a warrant has been issued for Jamar Slade Russell in the slaying of 28-year-old James L. Tinsley, of Laurel. Tinsley was found dead from a gunshot wound in a vehicle on the 8800 block of Hawthorne Lane on Dec. 11 shortly before 3 a.m.
Detectives believe the killing was the result of a “personal dispute,” police spokesman Cpl. Henry Tippett said.
