Marshals looking for suspect in D.C. shooting

The U.S. Marshals Service is looking for a Woodbridge man suspected of shooting another man multiple times in Southeast Washington.

Authorities say 24-year-old Marvin Jackson shot a man five times at close range on Oct. 3, 2010. Jackson has been wanted for assault with intent to kill using a gun since he was identified as a suspect and a warrant was issued for his arrest on Oct. 6.

The shooting happened outside on the 1100 block of Eaton Road SE at about 5 p.m., according to D.C. police. The victim and Jackson knew each other, marshals said, and the victim identified Jackson as the perpetrator.

“Jackson has a violent history and should be considered armed and dangerous,” Deputy Bill Straw said.

The Marshals Service said Jackson has ties to Woodbridge. Court records say he has lived there and marshals say he also has family in that area. Jackson also has a criminal history there.

He was convicted in a 2004 marijuana possession case, according to Prince William County General District Court records. Jackson was also found guilty in 2005 of possessing drug paraphernalia, court records show.

Anyone with information about Jackson’s whereabouts is asked to call the Marshals Service at 202-373-8947, 301-489-1717 or 800-336-0102.

The Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, run by the Marshals Service, is composed of 28 federal, state and local agencies from Baltimore to Norfolk. The unit has captured more than 20,000 wanted fugitives since it was created in 2004.

The Washington Examiner features a most wanted fugitive each week and at least 28 fugitives have been apprehended through tips from Examiner readers.
